24-Hour Help Line
We offer a free and confidential 24-hour help line. Trained DCRC advocates provided support to survivors of domestic, sexual and family violence, stalking, and human trafficking. Our advocates can provide emotional support, safety planning, information and referrals.
Whether the situation happened recently or long ago, we’re here to support you—on your terms.

Our crisis services department is staffed with trauma-informed advocates, many of whom are survivors themselves. In addition to our 24-hour help line, we offer case management, and help in finding emergency shelter for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or human trafficking.
Call our administrative line at 919-403-9425 to make an appointment or come into our office at 101 E. Morgan St. in Durham.
What happens when you call our help line?
When you call, you will connect with one of our trained crisis advocates (many of whom are survivors themselves). You can talk about anything you want and they will do their best to guide you in next steps for your situation.
You can call about your own personal situation, or that of a friend or loved one.
Our advocates can help you find a safe place to stay and give you referrals to our other services like legal advocacy, counseling, or support group, and also provide you with referrals to other community supports.
What won’t happen when you call our help line?
You will not be judged or shamed, no matter what the situation is.
You will not be told to “just leave” your relationship or that you must press charges. Our advocates will listen and help you do what you want, not what we think might best.
You do not have to give your real name.
You do not have to give your harm-doer’s real name.
You do not have to come in to our office for help.
