GENERAL DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

Durham Crisis Response Center is seeking a dedicated full-time Crisis Advocate to join our Crisis Services team in providing services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

As a Crisis Advocate, you will play a vital role in listening to, supporting, and empowering survivors. You will assess each client’s needs holistically—addressing emotional, social, and practical concerns—while offering information, referrals, and personalized safety planning for clients and their families. Your calm presence and skill in crisis intervention will help survivors navigate moments of deep vulnerability with dignity and hope. You will also collaborate closely with our team, community partners, and social service agencies to ensure every client receives trauma-informed, inclusive, and compassionate care.

• Proficient with computer applications thorough understanding of Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn and master other computer technology /software programs as needed.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field required; equivalent experience may be considered.

Preferred Education and Experience

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

• Two years of experience providing direct services, preferably in crisis intervention, domestic violence, sexual assault, or related advocacy work.
